Semi-Critical Zone
Semi-Critical Zone
1.Patient admitted to this zone are partially stable and are likely to become serious in a short period (usually in minutes or hours)
2.Examples of such cases are:
- Body weakness with inability to walk
- Those placed on trolleys
- Injuries to parts of the body, fractured/broken bones or dislocated joints
- Diabetic or uncontrolled hypertension
- Post Convulsion/Fits
3.Doctors will conduct medical examinations and give emergency treatment immediately.This includes laboratory tests,x-ray and referring to other specialised units, if necessary
4.Patient in this zone will be admitted to the wards for further treatments or discharged if fully recoved. Some will be placed in the Emergency Observation ward
5.Waiting time in this zone will be short, usually no longer than 15 minutes
Non-Critical Zone and Consultation rooms
Consultation Room
1.This zone is for patients who are stable and do not have serious conditions or conditions that might deteriorate rapidly
2.In the consultation rooms patient will be examined by a doctor.The doctor will decide on treatment or arrange any laboratory tests required (which may include x-ray or ECG)
3.After the consultation, the doctor will:
- Arrange for the admission of the patient
- or complete the discharge procedures and prescribe medication
- or refer patients to the out-patient clinics or specialists clinic
4.Waiting time to receive treatment here is variable and may exceed 30 minutes during busy periods
Secondary Triage Counter
1.The officer on duty will record the following vital health measurement:
- Bllod Pressure
- Pulse Rate
- Body temperature and pain score (if required)
2.The officer will also:
- conduct screening physical examination
- Give initial emergency treatment
- Prepare for laboratory or basic radiology test (if required)
3.The patient may be required to provide additional information about their condition, such as:
- information about the medicines they are taking currently
- history of allergic reactions
- Immunisation status
- Last date of menstruation or pregnancy status (for women)
4.Give clear, honest and complete information
5.This information will be used during their visit to the consultation and treatment rooms
6.Patient will be asked to wait in the waiting area of the Non-Critical Zone before being called to the consultation rooms
7.Inform any staff or customer service officer if you need any assistance or information while waiting
Registration Counter
1.The client or patient has to provide the following personal details at the counter:
- Identification card,passport or any legal identification document
- Residential address and telephone number
- Name and telephone number of next of kin (must be contactable)
- Employer's name and telephone number (if applicable)
2.This information will be useful to enable us to contact yot' your next of kin or employer if the need arises
3.Pay the registration fees
4.If you (patient) are directed to go the Non-Critical zone, you shall be given a queue or consultation room number
5.Proceed to the secondary triage counter
Primary Triage
1. Inform the triage officer regarding your health problem or injury, the symptoms and onset of problem/injury

- Card or any document of previous treatment records
4.Give clear, honest and complete personal details to the officer on duty so that they can provide appropriate care
5.Upon completing the screening/triaging procedures, the patient will be taken to one of the following zones:
- Critical/Resuscitaion Zone
- Semi-Critical Zone
- Non-Critical Zone
- Others,such as, the One Stop Crisis Centre and Asthma treatment room
6.Relative or person accompanying the patient will be asked to complete the registration procedure
7.For non-critical cases you will undergo further screening or secondary triaging
